A little tutorial for facebook..

Hate the new facebook? You're not alone.. This is a little tutorial out of boredom to show u how to get back as close to the old facebook using javascripts. This is only for those who don't know, for those who do know, good on ya.

The simplest way to do this is to use Firefox.

So let's start, shall we?

1) Download greasemonkey from add-ons for firefox

2) Restart your firefox as prompted - just as you would when you install any add-on.

4) AND YOU'RE DONE!

The result?

You should now notice this. FB Purity hides two things: the annoying endless meaningless stupid 'quizzes and all other app wall stuff' as well as the "extras". Extras such as XX has became friends with XX and XX has joined group I Hate the New Facebook - they're all now hidden. and your facebook suddenly looks like ur old facebook again. =) enjoy..

Things you should note:
  • This modification is NOT to facebook, its done on your browser only. If you use another computer to access your facebook, it'll look the same as usual.
  • Everytime facebook changed their code, the scripts stop working. Fortunately, the developers of the scripts will update their script within a few days too, be patient

On a similar note...

Just in case you want to know, my facebook looks like this.. I apologize but I have not reinstalled my photoshop since I installed Win 7, hence put up with ugly black boxes I use to cover up privacy stuff until my photoshop is installed again.

Differences you should note - and these are all things you can do with scripts.

1) My Facebook is wider (profile too)
2) I moved the filters to the right hand side ( you can remove it too)
3) Events now are on top + Birthdays
4) Events/Birthdays today are highlighted.
5) Ads, Suggestions, Connect with bla bla, is all GONE!
6) Photo Albums load all in one page, and one click to get full size pictures to scroll through really quick. (not shown in screenshot)

The scipts I use, in addition to fb purity, are
- Facebook Fixer (for the photo album modification, moves/remove filter bar to the right to make it wider)
- Facebook Highlight Birthdays
- Facebook All Facebook Ads
- Facebook Alter (to increase the width of my profile - requires simple modification though)

To find all these scripts, you can google them or go to userscripts.org and search for them.

Cheers!

If you liked this tutorial, comment on it yeah!
