Goldman Sachs..

Much coverage have been given on the grilling on Goldman Sachs on their short positions in the U.S. There is so much anger in the air, so many people looking for people to blame for their losses.

I for one, do not think Goldman Sachs is to blame. I think if you designed a security deliberately to fail and sell it to investors under a different impression, then yes, you are clearly at wrong. But taking short positions and later profiting from bets against their own securities and the US economy? I personally don't see a problem with that.  Economies change all the time, reasons to go long and short changes all the time. To profit from the economic downturn is not a crime; to knowingly and willingly sabotage the economy to gain that profit is.

It looks like a witch hunt, if you ask me. Angry citizens demand a witch to be burned and the government look to who profited the most and burn them. With the exception of that one employee that was charged, the rest of goldman sachs doesn't seem like they've done anything wrong.

It seems more like politicians are trying to appease the masses by having a witch hunt.

useless stuff..

Everytime I go to one of these career fairs, every big company/organization tends to give out their own freebies.. you know, like pen, pencil, notepads, etc etc etc, and the usual, lots and lots of brochures..

Well sometimes, they don't always give the expected, and CPA tops the list. I've probably junked alot of them already but these two are the ones still with me.

What? A.. erm.. massager? It's like the message is: "BE A CPA.. AND BECOME A MASSEUSE." Start your career by massaging the CPA examiners! or maybe you know, its a dumbbell for kids age 1 years and below, considering it probably weighs about 2 pounds.

CPA again! Initially I thought it was a bowl of some sort, for dogs perhaps? Then I realized it was a frisbee. At least this has its apparent use, especially if I had a dog. But, why frisbees?? Just how does CPA and frisbee have anything in common?

Then there's the tiny rubic cube from CA - which I have no idea where I put it now already.. Whats with all these accounting professional bodies and weird freebies? I'd probably be happier with a post-it note and notepads, being such a practical stuck-up.

Ah freebies freebies. The one that tops the list, now that I think of it, even more than these stuff, is this AMAZING LIFE CHANGING CLIP! (posted back in September 2009)

While it is a bloody clip, it has in no way whatsoever changed my life except that I now have an extra useless clip. Thanks very much um.. mysterious life changing clip maker.

Tip to learn here? Never oversell your product. The microwave is a life changing product, yours is a clip which comes with shoe soles for crying out loud.

Slacks..

Shit hell I'm a slacking lazy ass.. =/ Funds are reaaaly dropping rock bottom.. I'm tempted to round up all the small notes in my wallet and all my coins and somehow hope that they add up to like a godzillian thousand bucks. or find a stash of cash hidden behind some secret panel somewhere in the house/garden.

I am officially broke =( and I'm still waiting for immigration's yes or no with much anxiety.. it's like I am stuck can't move on with my life in Australia.. Okay that's half my excuse for slacking as I have up to this point.

I got my internet today, so half of that excuse is now gone, and I must really start working asap.. I just really hope my PR really soon. =( According to immi website I'm to get a response within 6 months of my application, which is kinda 1st Jan.. and it's already late April.. that leaves about.. i guess, a month..

*sighs* okay okay I need to get my bum working!!

Food for thought.

I admit, I'm absolutely bored. I NEED a job soon or I'll go nuts. I also apologize I havent been blogging in a while. Just a while ago i was on my bed about to crash in to my drooping eyes, sleepy although I shouldn't be yet. I notice I get more sleep in Melbourne but my food intake quality drops tremendously resorting to $2 frozen-and-instant-microwaved burgers for lunch.

So I force myself out of the bed with an huge invisible pry bar and went down to make some coffee, which well.. didnt quite went as what I had in mind..

Whoops?

I mean what the hell is wrong with me today?? I've been making blunders all day! This one was particularly tricky to clean up because apparently some parts of the kitchen top was WET! sucks!

Like this blunder as well...

This is shirmin's bed. and yes this is the photo from the top.. Notice anything wrong?

How about now?

YES we got the side frame UPSIDE DOWN and it was the bloody FIRST STEP OF ASSEMBLING the bed!!! which means if we want to fix it (which we should laa) we have to DISASSEMBLE 2 HOURS of hard work to turn this BLOCK of wood upside down! AAAAAAAAAAA..

I was like YES! finish! and then oh uh.....

Anyway, so off topic already.

I read on some pretty racism comments on how the only 'real' citizens in Australia are the whites and the rest are just 'paper citizens'. I didn't quite use the exact wording here.. but while its easy to decry his actions and then move on. but to be honest, his racist remarks had some point.

I always believed racism is overused, over publicised,  over politicised, issues. Race hardly plays an issue in anything, mentality does. Am I trying to be an migrant to Australian shores myself? Yes I am. Yet I think that the migration should be reduced myself. Why is the first reaction most would-be migrants ask? Think about it, over-crowding, over-populating city causes problems and strains that can already be seen on Melbourne streets today. Overcrowding on trains and trams, way over-inflated property prices, competition for a home, and frankly, most migrants come with a mentality that the Australians should bend to their way of  life or else they'll cry racism. Where is the Australian way of life?? They're definitely not in universities, where I once wrote about that. Even the quality of education drops like a rock with the influx of students with horrible english skills.

This is why I respect Kevin Rudd when he says, and I quote,"IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT". Why on earth would you want to migrate to another country and then demand that they adapt to your cultures and language? It's like migrants come here not to learn Australian culture and be part of the society but to form their own society out of sheer numbers.

It's a delicate issue of economic and political consequences, but the simple fact remains, the current situation cannot remain.
