iPad?

With all the hype about iPad and news about Apple employees acting like lunatics during the launch, I can't help but wonder why? I mean, perhaps I can understand if people without iphone would to get the iPad, the bigger screen makes browsing web and seeing photos amazing, plus perhaps a more effective note taking tool. The bundle with 3g is ingenius, making it a hybrid between touch and iphone with a bigger screen.

But in essence, it does everything an iphone does. In fact, I havent figure out what the iPad does that an iPhone does not.. except, of course, with a bigger screen. I understand its selling points, but the real disappointment for me comes because of what it could have been.

I have always loved tablets from young, and I was absolutely excited when apple announced their tablet, but quickly disappointed. I had expected a more fully featured tablet, not an iphone with a magnified screen.

Disappointment, disappointment.. Until of course.. someone figures out how to run windows 7 on it. ;)

P.s - I wish good luck to anyone trying to play racing games on the iPad. I would love to see that.

Chadstone Sale 26 May 2010

I feel compelled to blog about the chadstone sale on May 2010.. It's a case like OMG I AM DOING SOMETHING. I am out of the house, not job hunting not stoning with shows (damn you Stargate SG-1), or playing games.

Yep its end of may/beginning of June again! the nice sale before the end of the financial year! I took the chadstone shuttle for the first time and it is really damn convenient.. I thought it'll be swamped with people but surprisingly hardly anyone use them! They're so convenient, they leave from fed square and go straight to chadstone via toll roads!! AND its FREE!

So let some pictures do the talking..

Yeah I was waiting for the bus on this awesomely nice weather day..

Woo hoo~

See the sale signs!

EB games half price off almost everything omg!

Assassin's creed 2!

COD 4

I'm not quite sure what on earth is this. Its like a little photo booth! and your pics appear on the LCD screen there for ALL to see.

I guess that's all folks!

Hmm.. productivity..

Its a mysterious thing, really.. how productivity slips past us in a second, and then seemingly a whole entire day has passed without having done anything at all. When people ask, so... what did you do today/yesterday/this week/lately/recently? I often go um... and then dig my brain for something that I did that doesnt reflect me like a useless lazy good-for-nothing slacker.

"Umm.. Been busy.. you know.. with finding the job thing.."

And then comes the next most dreaded question.. "so.. how many interviews have you gone for?

It's like an automatic assumption that I must have gone for hundreds for interviews already to be still jobless.

"Umm.. None.. Still trying to get one"

then they go like "ahh.." and then give u that weird supposedly reassuring smile that its normal but at the same time their perception of you have changed permanently.

So I find myself having zero productivity at home, zero. I find myself doing things that exist solely to waste time. So I found starbucks as my second home, seeing that eugenes place can no longer be it.. The problem with starbucks is that I have to rely on my 500mb mobile internet quota a month to go online here, and its fairly crowded no matter what time I come here. It gets worse as I need to get a power point, so often I stalk people who hogs 6 seats to themselves and the power point, giving them the stare, ones that goes "leave... faster leave.. go... you have more important things to do.. go.. scram..." kinda stare..

Okay as I'm typing this, there's this really.. odd couple at the end of the room. it's like beauty and the beast, and the beast has longer hair than the beauty. and the beauty is now tying the beast's hair. wtf? and those two are the ones hogging up 6 seats, and she's sitting on his lap despite having 5 other empty seats right next to them. and going all mushy.

See the things you can see at starbucks?? such amazing things. lol.

Okay I better get off here and get back to my job hunt, which I call as "work" - which once caused a wave of misunderstanding at facebook.

See how they *never* *ever* get my name right? *Every* single time.

>GEORGE TOWN: A Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblyman has told Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to stop referring to Caliph Umar Abdul Aziz as his model leader as this has made Muslims uneasy.

Shahabudin Yahya (Permatang Berangan) said Lim should model himself after non-Muslim leaders.

"He is not a Muslim, and he shouldn't say he is emulating him. He should not use it as political mileage as Muslims are getting upset that he is comparing his leadership to that of the Caliph," Shahabudin said in his winding-up speech at the state legislative assembly.

He said while Lim was free to participate in the religious festivities of other creeds, he should refrain from portraying himself on the same spiritual level as the Caliph.

"He has so many other leaders whom he can emulate — Abraham Lincoln, Confucius or even Nelson Mandela, but the Caliph is a Muslim and a very spiritual person.

"He should never equate himself to that spirituality, as he cannot be on the same level as the Caliph. There is a vast difference between the two of them," Shahabudin said.

He said Lim also made Muslims throughout the country uneasy by often quoting the statement "amar maarof nahi mungkar" ("espouse good, abhor evil") in his political speeches.

"Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (DAP-Air Putih) questioned former Islamic Religious Council committee chairman Datuk Shahabudin Yahya (BN-Permatang Berangan) if it was a crime for him to emulate Caliph Umar Abdul Aziz. Saying that he never equated himself to the Caliph, Lim said he only wanted to emulate the values practiced by the Caliph.

"Why can't I learn from the noble values, faith and personality of the Caliph? Don't tell me I should learn these values from Umno leaders?

"All religions teach good values and they would be happy if one wants to adopt values and teachings of their religion.

"Only Umno would advocate otherwise, that it is wrong to learn noble values from other religions," Lim added.

The state government adopted the competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) principles which is in line with the "amar makruf, nahi mungkar" (doing good while abhorring evil) principle.

"We do make mistakes in our process of learning but we are ready to admit our mistakes, unlike Umno and BN leaders who refuse to repent," Lim added. "

Re: Concern over teenagers hanging out late at night

From the news article: http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/5/2/nation/6175417&sec=nation

Assoc Prof Datuk Mohamad Ali Hasan, president of the National Parent-Teacher Association Collaborative Council proposed that Malaysia implement a national curfew to safeguard our children as practised in countries like Japan, Britain, Iceland, Germany and Singapore.

You must have your head up yours if you think you can impose a national curfew without a severe backlash. It will be a violation of teenager's basic rights. Quite frankly stop being such a nanny. The government need not step in to tell teens what time they have to sleep. Checking ID after 11pm? On what grounds? When has this treatment of your own citizens like criminals or illegal immigrants started?

Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation Vice-Chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam who has some common sense in objecting the curfew miss the spot as well. It's not just some teenagers who hang out late who knows how to differentiate between right and wrong. By saying that, you're implying that the rest and the majority of teens who hang out late are criminals. Really?

Time to get your heads out of the sand. Every citizen, young and old alike, should be able to have the right to go out in their own country at any time they like without prejudice and fear for their own safety. Maybe you should be looking at the police instead, whose IGP immaturely lashed back out at critics, saying he could call his men off the streets if that was what the people wanted This is indeed shocking.

"If you do not want the police to enforce the law, then say so," he said. I can tell my men to not take any action, including conduct inspections on vehicles or arrest Mat Rempit who ride without licences," he told reporters.

Just kind of reflects on the entire attitude of the police force with such a IGP. A word of advice to the IGP from a humble citizen, the criticism comes with the fucking job. If you can't take it, maybe you should just resign.Stop playing the blaming game. Investigate what happened in the shooting of that teenager with due diligence and transparency, and stop blaming.
