Why you shouldnt believe everything you read...

Seen on TheAge,

An article on our very own KL!

Now now, before we get all proud and happy of ourselves.. lets take a look at the article... http://www.theage.com.au/travel/the-new-asian-capital-of-cool-20090528-booi.html

I'll let you read the whole article for yourself.. but I'll take out a few excerpts from it..My comments are in bold/italic after the excerpts..

"The Novotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre could well be dubbed Malaysia's Little Australia."
uhh.. no. not now, not anytime soon.

"KL's attraction as a shopping destination to match its neighbouring rival, Singapore."
Sure.. Petaling street. (did i spell dat right? it sounds funny). where probably nothing is genuine.. then again, u wont get a rolex watch for $10 in Australia. "Rolex" that is..

"For those who want to venture further afield, getting around this clean and tidy city is easy by way of its cheap and plentiful taxis."
u sure u got the right city mate? clean? tidy? oh cheap and plentiful - thats fine, you just left out taxis-that-leave-u-hanging-on-to-your-life as well as taxis that look like they are cars that belong to your ancestors, leaving u wondering how the metal tin can with wheels still even moves.

"After being ripped off at the first stall my wife and I visited, we soon learnt the drill."
Finally something that sounds like KL.

"Avoid travelling by road between 4pm and 6pm - the city becomes a car park - and don't step onto anything resembling a pedestrian walkway with presumed immunity. Nothing's going to stop."
Yes, this would be my biggest (and most important) advice to anyone who doesnt originate from KL. nothing's going to stop. except your heart if you do do this.

"It's only a short trip from there to the beautiful Butterfly Park and nearby orchid gardens."
dont forget hot and humid. Lying around on grassy areas in Msia is so not the same as in Australia.

and finally.. the title..
"The new Asian capital of cool?"
cool? KL is anything but cool, its hot and humid.

Well nonetheless, its a cheap food haven! delicious food that makes the aussie look like a backward country when it comes to food variety and prices.

Logging off,
Lawy3rz
